Join us as we publish a brand-new, illustrated version of “Rockabye Baby!”

This new version follows the story of deepening night, as some animals come out to play and explore, while others come together to nestle and sleep. Infused with magic and mystery, the new Rockaby Baby finds music in the sounds of the wind and the touch of the moonlight.  It evokes the deep connections we share with the natural world:  the heavens, the earth, and each other.

There are 8 verses in the new version of Rockabye Baby. The first half of them follow the nature-themed journey of the child sleeping in the treetop. The verses then transition to being held, loved, and supported by the caregiver. The final verses comfort the child with the parent’s presence and loving confidence, urging the child to remain “Strong of Heart” as he or she moves towards his or her own unique destiny.

Sometimes, I wonder how the world would be different if we didn’t express so much cruelty, especially towards young children.  Mocking or teasing young children is especially cruel, as they are sensitive, vulnerable, and relatively helpless.  Typically, those who are cruel to children claim they are making them tougher.  How could it possibly be good, or help the world be a stronger place, when we make young children feel insecure?
